House of the Dragon is the second live-action television series of the World of Ice and Fire, after Game of Thrones. Martin and Ryan Condal created the series, and it premiered on HBO in August 2022. The series is based on Martin's 2018 novel Fire & Blood and tells the story of House Targaryen during the Dance of the Dragons, a civil war that took place nearly 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones.
